Jen Tapler is one of my favorite card makers and bloggers! She is super nice, sweet, makes amazing things and lives in Maui! I had to add that only because I am picturing palm tree's, Mai Tai's, luau's and beaches while I look at my snow covered yard! And I love what she does with Verve stamps and drool over her designs on a daily basis.
Then when I saw her blog candy I knew I had to go for it. But even more than just free stuff, she is doing something for a cause that is dear to my heart as well, Alzheimer's. My MIL suffers from it and is also in the late stages. It breaks my heart when we see her but more for my DH as I came into the picture in the middle of her disease so I didn't get to know her when she was vibrant, loving and caring. When I saw what Jen was doing to raise money and awareness for the disease, in honour of her father, I knew this was something I wanted to take part in.
So I took advantage of the sketch over at SCS today and whipped up a little somein' somein' for Jen! I think this is the first time I have ever mailed something to Hawaii but I am sure it won't be the last! Thanks Jen, you are a sweetheart!
I don't know about you guys but do you ever finish a card and go 'now that is what I am talking about!' Well, I did it with this one and I hope you feel the same way. Yes, I am patting myself on the back right now! Well done Bond, well done!
Ciao!

You are AWESOME Wendy!! Seriously. I have tears in my eyes right now reading your post. First of all - I am so glad I'm getting to know you better out here in "blogland". Second of all, I am so sad for what I personally know is an extremely terrible situation you guys are in. I know exactly how heartbreaking it is for your husband and how badly he wishes you had a chance to know the woman who raised him. My Dad was in the early stages of the disease (pre-diagnosis, but already a different person from the man who raised me) when I started dating Joel. I have shed so many tears wishing Joel would have really known my Dad - and that doesn't even come close to the hurt of knowing my son will never have that perfect grandfather I knew my Dad would someday be. Great big {hugs} to you guys Wendy!!! You're not alone in this and you know where I am if you ever want to talk!!
